PIB Vijayawada ‘Vartalap’ – Media Awareness Workshop in Bapatla

• Bapatla Collector highlights media’s role as the fourth pillar of democracy

Bapatla District Collector Dr. Vinod Kumar (IAS) inaugurated the ‘Vartalap’ media awareness workshop, organized in Bapatla for district and rural journalists by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Vijayawada—under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.

The Press Information Bureau organized this workshop to create awareness on topics such as contemporary journalism, success stories, reporting techniques, and combating misinformation on social media, alongside effectively disseminating information about the Government of India’s welfare and development schemes.

Bapatla District Collector Dr. Vinod Kumar attended the ‘Vartalap’ event as the chief guest and addressed the journalists. He noted that the media is considered the fourth pillar of democracy and plays a pivotal role in providing information to society. He highlighted the massive transformation the media sector has undergone, evolving from traditional media to digital platforms.

He elaborated on the ethical values ​​of the media sector and the importance of responsible journalism. He urged journalists to provide the public with positive, credible, and valuable information that contributes to the well-being of society. Noting that social media has emerged as a rapid and powerful tool for information dissemination, journalists were urged to use these platforms responsibly and constructively while ensuring the authenticity of the information shared.

Addressing the journalists, Shri G. Suresh Kumar (IIS), Director of PIB Vijayawada, stated that PIB acts as a vital link between the government and the media by providing authentic and timely information regarding various policies, programs, and projects. He remarked that such events help create greater awareness among the media about various prestigious schemes, plans, and developmental activities.

Director Suresh Kumar urged journalists to focus more on contemporary journalism and success stories rather than sensationalist news. He highlighted how, in an era of rapid information dissemination via social media, reliable and verified information plays a crucial role in curbing the spread of misinformation.

Senior officials from various Central and State government departments also addressed the workshop. Dr. G. Anitha, a professor in the ANU Journalism Department, spoke about effective communication and ethical values ​​in journalism, while Senior Correspondent Sri Samba Siva Rao gave a presentation to reporters on media-related aspects that could help promote the tourism sector in Bapatla. Lead District Manager Sri K. Siva Krishna also participated in the discussion.

The workshop concluded with an interactive session where reporters shared their views on Central Government schemes and development programs.

భారత ప్రభుత్వ సంక్షేమ, అభివృద్ధి పథకాలను సమర్థవంతంగా ప్రచారం చేయడంతో పాటు, సమకాలీన జర్నలిజం, విజయగాథలు, రిపోర్టింగ్, సామాజిక మాధ్యమాల్లో తప్పుడు సమాచారాన్ని ఎదుర్కోవడం వంటి అంశాలపై అవగాహన కల్పించేందుకు పత్రికా సమాచార కార్యాలయం ఈ మీడియా అవగాహన కార్యశాలను నిర్వహించింది.

బాపట్ల జిల్లా కలెక్టర్ డా. వినోద్ కుమార్, ఈ వార్తాలాప్ కార్యక్రమానికి ముఖ్య అతిథిగా విచ్చేసి, విలేకరులను ఉద్దేశించి ప్రసంగించారు. మీడియాను ప్రజాస్వామ్యానికి నాల్గవ స్తంభంగా పరిగణిస్తారని, సమాజానికి సమాచారాన్ని అందించడంలో కీలక పాత్ర పోషిస్తుందని ఈ సందర్భంగా కలెక్టర్ అన్నారు. సాంప్రదాయ మీడియా నుంచి డిజిటల్ వేదికల వరకు మీడియా రంగంలో భారీ పరివర్తన చోటు చేసుకుందని ఆయన పేర్కొన్నారు.

మీడియా రంగానికి గల నైతిక విలువలు, బాధ్యతాయుతమైన జర్నలిజం ప్రాముఖ్యతను ఆయన వివరించారు. సమాజానికి దోహదపడే సానుకూల, విశ్వసనీయమైన, విలువైన సమాచారాన్ని ప్రజలకు అందించాలని విలేకరులను కోరారు. సామాజిక మాధ్యమాలు వేగవంతమైన, శక్తివంతమైన సమాచార సాంకేతిక సాధనాలుగా ఆవిర్భవించాయని, సమాచార ప్రామాణికతను నిర్ధారిస్తూనే ఈ వేదికలను బాధ్యతాయుతంగా, నిర్మాణాత్మకంగా ఉపయోగించుకోవాలని విలేకరులకు పిలుపునిచ్చారు.

విలేకరులను ఉద్ధేశించి పిఐబి విజయవాడ డైరెక్టర్ శ్రీ జి. సురేష్ కుమార్, ఐఐఎస్, మాట్లాడుతూ.. వివిధ విధానాలు, కార్యక్రమాలు, ప్రాజెక్టులపై ప్రామాణికమైన, వేగవంతమైన సమాచారాన్ని అందించడం ద్వారా ప్రభుత్వానికి, విలేకరులకు మధ్య పిఐబి ముఖ్యమైన అనుసంధానకర్తగా పనిచేస్తుందని తెలిపారు. ఇటువంటి కార్యక్రమాలు వివిధ ప్రతిష్టాత్మక పథకాలు, ప్రణాళికలు, అభివృద్ధి కార్యకలాపాల పై మీడియాకు విస్తృతమైన అవగాహన కల్పించడానికి తోడ్పడతాయన్నారు.

సంచలనాత్మక వార్తలకు బదులుగా సమకాలీన జర్నలిజం, విజయగాథలపై మరింత దృష్టి సారించాలని పిఐబి డైరెక్టర్ సురేష్ కుమార్ పాత్రికేయులను కోరారు. సామాజిక మాధ్యమాల ద్వారా వేగంగా సమాచార వ్యాప్తి జరుగుతున్న ప్రస్తుత తరుణంలో విశ్వసనీయమైన, ధృవీకృత సమాచారం తప్పుడు సమాచార వ్యాప్తిని అరికట్టేందుకు ఎలా దోహదపడుతుందో ఆయన ప్రముఖంగా ప్రస్తావించారు.

వివిధ కేంద్ర, రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వ శాఖలకు చెందిన సీనియర్ అధికారులు కూడా ఈ వర్క్‌షాప్‌లో ప్రసంగించారు. ఏఎన్‌యూ జర్నలిజం విభాగ ప్రొఫెసర్ డాక్టర్ జి. అనిత, జర్నలిజంలో సమర్థవంతమైన సమాచార మార్పిడి మరియు నైతిక విలువలపై మాట్లాడగా, సీనియర్ కరస్పాండెంట్ శ్రీ సాంబ శివ రావు, బాపట్లలో పర్యాటక రంగాన్ని ప్రోత్సహించేందుకు ఉన్న అనువైన పత్రికపరమైన అంశాల పై ఈ మీడియా అవగాహన కార్యశాలలో ప్రజెంటేషన్ ద్వారా విలేకరులకు వివరించారు. లీడ్ డిస్ట్రిక్ట్ మేనేజర్ శ్రీ కె. శివ కృష్ణ కూడా ఈ వార్తాలాప్‌లో పాల్గొన్నారు.

కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వ పథకాలు, అభివృద్ధి కార్యక్రమాలపై విలేకరులు తమ అభిప్రాయాలను పంచుకున్న పరస్పర చర్చా కార్యక్రమంతో ఈ కార్యశాల ముగిసింది.
