Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Commissioner Swapnil Dinkar Pundkar
Amaravati, February 14 : Commissioner of Vijayawada City Corporation Swapnil Dinkar Pundkar has clarified that the name of the well-known “Thummalapalli Vari Kshetraya Kalakshetra” in Vijayawada city limits has not been changed at all. He said that there is no truth in the news in many daily newspapers that the name of the art gallery has been changed.
On the occasion of Krishna Pushkarala held in 2016, the name “Thummalapalli Vari Kshetraya Kalakshetram” was removed during the renovation of the elevation of this Kalakshetra and the name was not restored again. But he added that a glow sign board with the name “Kalakshetra” was installed on the elevation portion in December 2021 with the aim of clearly conveying the intention that the Kalakshetra is intended only for conducting cultural events. The Commissioner said that a board with the name “Thummalapalli Vari Kshetraya Kalakshetram” is being prepared and soon after its completion, the board will be installed in the building.
