జర్నలిస్టుల అవార్డులకు గడువు సెప్టెంబర్ 28 , 2026
- ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ ప్రభుత్వం రాష్ట్రంలోని జర్నలిస్టులకు అవార్డులు ఇచ్చేందుకు సమాచార శాఖ డైరెక్టర్ కె ఎస్ విశ్వనాథన్ ఉత్తర్వులు జారీ చేశారు.
- ఈ మేరకు వివిధ విభాగాల కింద 12 అవార్డులను ఇస్తారు. అందుకోసం దరఖాస్తు చేసుకునేందుకు సెప్టెంబరు 28 వరకు గడువు ఉంది.

ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ ప్రభుత్వం సుదీర్ఘకాలంగా అమలుకు నోచుకోని జర్నలిస్టుల అవార్డుల ప్రక్రియపై దృష్టి సారించడం పట్ల ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ వర్కింగ్ జర్నలిస్టు ఫెడరేషన్ (APWJF) తరఫున ఘనంగా కృతజ్ఞతలు తెలియజేస్తున్నాము. ఈ ఏడాది మార్చి 4న విజయవాడ తుమ్మలపల్లి క్షేత్రయ్య కళాక్షేత్రంలో జరిగిన సభకు హాజరైన సమాచార శాఖ మంత్రి కొలుసు పార్థసారథి ఈ విషయమై సానుకూల హామీ ఇచ్చారు. ఆ హామీ నేడు కార్యరూపం దాల్చుతున్నందుకు వారికి, ప్రభుత్వానికి ప్రత్యేక అభినందనలు.
అయితే, జర్నలిస్టుల అవార్డులకు సంబంధించి 2004లో తీసుకువచ్చిన జీవోకు కేవలం నామమాత్రపు సవరణలు చేయడానికి మాత్రమే నియమించిన కమిటీ ప్రయత్నించింది. నవ్యాంధ్రప్రదేశ్లో జర్నలిస్టుల అవార్డులపై ప్రభుత్వ వైఖరి మరింత సమగ్రంగా ఉండాలని ఫెడరేషన్ గట్టిగా భావిస్తోంది. జాతీయ స్థాయి నుంచి రాష్ట్ర స్థాయి వరకు, స్వాతంత్ర్యోద్యమ కాలం నుంచి వృత్తిలోనూ, జర్నలిస్టు ఉద్యమంలోనూ అంకితభావంతో పనిచేసిన ఎంతోమంది లబ్ధప్రతిష్ఠులైన జర్నలిస్టుల పేర్లను పరిశీలించి, రాబోయే సంవత్సరంలో ఇచ్చే అవార్డుల కోసం ఒక సమగ్రమైన కొత్త జీవోను తీసుకురావడం సముచితంగా ఉంటుందని కోరుతున్నాము.
ఈ నేపథ్యంలో మా దృష్టిలో ఉన్న ప్రముఖ దిగ్గజాల పేర్లను పరిశీలన నిమిత్తం మీ ముందుంచుతున్నాము.
మానికొండ చలపతిరావు – జర్నలిస్టు ఉద్యమ పితామహుడు, దేశంలోని జర్నలిస్టులను చట్టపరిధిలోకి తెచ్చి, జీతభత్యాలు, ఇతర సదుపాయాల కల్పనకు అవసరమైన చట్టాల రూపకల్పనకు కృషి చేసిన మహనీయులు.
కోటరాజు రామారావు – జాతీయ స్థాయిలో జర్నలిస్టు ఉద్యమంలో అగ్రభాగాన నిలిచిన ప్రముఖులు.
సి.వై. చింతామణి – ‘పోప్ ఆఫ్ జర్నలిజం’గా ప్రఖ్యాత గడించిన సంపాదకులు.
కోటరాజు విక్రమరావు – జర్నలిస్టు ఉద్యమంలో కీలక పాత్ర పోషించి ‘టైమ్స్ ఆఫ్ ఇండియా’లో సేవలందించినవారు.
నందూరి రామమోహనరావు – సుదీర్ఘకాలం ‘ఆంధ్రజ్యోతి’ దినపత్రికకు సంపాదకులుగా సేవలు అందించిన ప్రముఖులు.
వి.ఆర్. బొమ్మిరెడ్డి – ఐదు దశాబ్దాల పాటు నిర్భయ జర్నలిస్టుగా కొనసాగిన ‘ప్రజాశక్తి’ సంపాదకులు.
చక్రవర్తుల రాఘవాచారి – బహుభాషాకోవిదుడు, ఇంగ్లీషు జర్నలిజంతో వృత్తి జీవితం ఆరంభించి ‘విశాలాంధ్ర’ దినపత్రికకు సంపాదకులుగా పనిచేసినవారు.
పొత్తూరి వెంకటేశ్వరరావు – పలు ప్రముఖ దినపత్రికలలో సంపాదకులుగా విశేష సేవలందించిన దిగ్గజం.
నీలంరాజు మురళీధర్ – జర్నలిజంలో తనకంటూ ప్రత్యేక గుర్తింపు తెచ్చుకున్న ప్రముఖ ఫోటో జర్నలిస్టు.
రాంభట్ల కృష్ణమూర్తి – తెలుగునాట తొలి రాజకీయ కార్టూనిస్టుగా చరిత్ర సృష్టించినవారు.
టి.మోహన్ – తెలుగు జర్నలిజంలో చెరగని ముద్ర వేసిన ప్రముఖ కార్టూనిస్టు.
ప్రభుత్వం చేసిన సవరణల్లో భాగంగా.. ప్రముఖ జర్నలిస్ట్, ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్లో జర్నలిస్టు ఉద్యమ నిర్మాణంలో ప్రధాన భూమిక పోషించిన బి. నాగేశ్వరరావు పేరును తొలగించడం గమనించదగ్గ విషయం. అలాగే, స్వాతంత్ర్య సమరయోధుడు, సంస్థానాల విలీనం కోసం నైజాం నవాబుకు వ్యతిరేకంగా అవిశ్రాంత పోరాటం సాగించి రజాకార్ల చేతిలో అసువులు బాసిన త్యాగధనుడు షోయబుల్లా ఖాన్ పేరును కూడా తొలగించారు. ఆయనను కేవలం ఒక ప్రాంతానికి పరిమితం చేసి చూడడం సమంజసం కాదు. కాబట్టి బి. నాగేశ్వరరావు, షోయబుల్లా ఖాన్ పేరిట గతంలో ఇస్తున్న అవార్డులను యథావిధిగా కొనసాగించాలని కోరుతున్నాం.
ఉత్తమ మహిళా జర్నలిస్టు అవార్డు, ఉత్తమ ఉర్దూ జర్నలిస్టు అవార్డులకు సంబంధించి ఇతర రంగాల్లోని ప్రముఖుల పేర్లకు బదులుగా, జాతీయ స్థాయిలో జర్నలిజంలో విశేష కృషి చేసిన ప్రముఖుల పేర్లను పరిశీలిస్తే మరింత సముచితంగా ఉంటుందని సూచిస్తున్నాం.
ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ వర్కింగ్ జర్నలిస్టు ఫెడరేషన్ (APWJF) చేసిన ఈ సూచనలన్నింటినీ రాబోయే సంవత్సరంలో ప్రభుత్వం సానుకూలంగా పరిగణనలోకి తీసుకుని, అత్యంత సమగ్రమైన కొత్త జీవోను తీసుకురావాలని ఈ సందర్భంగా మరోసారి విజ్ఞప్తి చేస్తున్నాము.
Deadline for Journalist Awards: September 28, 2026
- * K.S. Viswanathan, Director of the Information Department, has issued orders regarding the presentation of awards to journalists in Andhra Pradesh by the state government.
- * A total of 12 awards will be presented across various categories. The deadline to submit applications for these awards is September 28.
- * Federation Requests Comprehensive GO for Journalist Awards

On behalf of the Andhra Pradesh Working Journalists Federation (APWJF), we express our sincere gratitude to the Andhra Pradesh government for focusing on the journalist awards process, which had long remained unimplemented. Information Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy had given a positive assurance regarding this matter while attending a meeting at the Tummalapalli Kshetrayya Kalakshetram in Vijayawada on March 4 of this year. We extend special congratulations to the Minister and the government for turning that assurance into reality today.
However, the committee appointed for this purpose attempted to make only nominal amendments to the Government Order (GO) originally issued in 2004. The Federation strongly believes that the government’s approach towards journalist awards in the newly formed Andhra Pradesh should be more comprehensive. We believe it would be appropriate to issue a comprehensive new Government Order (GO) for the upcoming annual awards, after considering the names of numerous distinguished journalists who served with dedication—from the national to the state level and from the era of the freedom struggle onwards—in both the profession and the journalists’ movement.
In this context, we present the names of the following stalwarts for your consideration:
Manikonda Chalapathi Rau – The patriarch of the journalists’ movement; a visionary who worked to bring the nation’s journalists under a legal framework and strove to enact laws ensuring proper salaries, allowances, and other amenities.
Kotaraju Rama Rao – A prominent figure who stood at the forefront of the journalists’ movement at the national level.
C.Y. Chintamani – An editor renowned as the ‘Pope of Journalism’.
Kotaraju Vikrama Rao – A key figure in the journalists’ movement who also served at *The Times of India*.
Nanduri Ramamohana Rao – A distinguished figure who served as the editor of the *Andhra Jyothi* daily newspaper for a long period.
V.R. Bommireddy – The editor of *Prajasakti* who served as a fearless journalist for five decades.
Chakravartula Raghavachari – A polyglot who began his career in English journalism and served as the editor of the *Visalaandhra* daily newspaper. Potturi Venkateswara Rao – A stalwart who rendered distinguished service as an editor for several prominent daily newspapers.
Neelamraju Muralidhar – A renowned photojournalist who carved a unique niche for himself in the field of journalism.
Rambhatla Krishnamurthy – A trailblazer who made history as the first political cartoonist in the Telugu region.
T. Mohan – A prominent cartoonist who left an indelible mark on Telugu journalism.
It is noteworthy that, as part of the amendments made by the government, the name of B. Nageswara Rao—a prominent journalist who played a pivotal role in building the journalists’ movement in Andhra Pradesh—was removed. Similarly, the name of Shoebullah Khan was also dropped; he was a freedom fighter and a martyr who waged a relentless struggle against the Nizam of Hyderabad for the integration of princely states and lost his life at the hands of the Razakars. It is inappropriate to view him as belonging to or being limited to just one specific region. Therefore, we urge that the awards previously instituted in the names of B. Nageswara Rao and Shoebullah Khan be continued as before.
Regarding the ‘Best Woman Journalist’ and ‘Best Urdu Journalist’ awards, we suggest that instead of naming them after personalities from other fields, it would be far more appropriate to consider the names of eminent figures who have made significant contributions to journalism at the national level.
We once again appeal to the government to positively consider all these suggestions made by the Andhra Pradesh Working Journalists Federation (APWJF) and to issue a comprehensive new Government Order (GO) in the coming year.
