VIT-AP యూనివర్సిటీ మరియు ఆంధ్ర చెస్ అసోసియేషన్ సంయుక్తంగా నిర్వహించిన ‘VIT-AP 1వ అమరావతి FIDE రేటింగ్ చెస్ టోర్నమెంట్’ జూన్ 8, 2026 సాయంత్రం విజయవంతంగా ముగిసింది. ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్లో చెస్ మరియు మేధోపరమైన క్రీడల ప్రోత్సాహంలో ఇది ఒక ముఖ్యమైన మైలురాయిగా నిలిచింది.
జూన్ 1, 2026న ప్రారంభమైన ఈ ఎనిమిది రోజుల టోర్నమెంట్కు దేశవ్యాప్తంగా ,విదేశాల నుండి చెస్ క్రీడాకారుల నుండి అద్భుతమైన స్పందన లభించింది. ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో మొత్తం 943 మంది క్రీడాకారులు (21 రాష్ట్రాలు మరియు 2 దేశాల నుండి) పాల్గొన్నారు. వీరిలో 669 మంది అంతర్జాతీయ రేటింగ్ కలిగిన క్రీడాకారులు ,76 మంది ‘టైటిల్’ పొందిన క్రీడాకారులు (ఇంటర్నేషనల్ మాస్టర్స్, క్యాండిడేట్ మాస్టర్స్, FIDE మాస్టర్స్ ,ఇతర ప్రముఖ పోటీదారులు) ఉన్నారు. 4 ఏళ్ల వయస్సు గల చిన్నారుల నుండి అనుభవజ్ఞులైన చెస్ దిగ్గజాల వరకు పాల్గొనడం ద్వారా ఈ టోర్నమెంట్ గొప్ప సమగ్రతను చాటిచెప్పింది. వివిధ విభాగాలలో విజేతలకు నగదు బహుమతులు మరియు ట్రోఫీలు అందజేశారు; మొత్తం రూ. 30 లక్షల నగదు బహుమతిని విజేతలకు పంపిణీ చేశారు.
ఈ ఛాంపియన్షిప్ అనేకమంది ప్రముఖులు ,ప్రజా ప్రతినిధుల దృష్టిని ఆకర్షించింది, వారు టోర్నమెంట్ జరుగుతున్న సమయంలో దీనిని సందర్శించారు.
జూన్ 1, 2026న జరిగిన ప్రారంభోత్సవ కార్యక్రమానికి DGP ,పోలీస్ ఫోర్స్ అధిపతి శ్రీ హరీష్ కుమార్ గుప్తా, యాంటీ-నార్కోటిక్స్ సెల్ IG శ్రీ ఆకే రవి కృష్ణ మరియు గుంటూరు SP శ్రీ వాకుల్ జిందాల్ హాజరై టోర్నమెంట్ను అధికారికంగా ప్రారంభించారు.

ముగింపు సమావేశానికి ముఖ్య అతిథిగా విచ్చేసిన విఐటి-ఏపి విశ్వవిద్యాలయం వైస్ ఛాన్సలర్ డా. పి. అరుళ్మొళివర్మన్ మాట్లాడుతూ, “మొదటి అమరావతి ఫిడే రేటింగ్ ఓపెన్ చెస్ టోర్నమెంట్కు లభించిన అద్భుతమైన స్పందనకు మేము చాలా సంతోషిస్తున్నాము. దేశం నలుమూలల నుండి ,విదేశాల నుండి దాదాపు వెయ్యి మంది క్రీడాకారులను ఒకచోట చేర్చడం, విద్యా, క్రీడలు ,సంపూర్ణ అభివృద్ధిలో శ్రేష్ఠతకు కేంద్రంగా విఐటి-ఏపి యొక్క పెరుగుతున్న స్థాయిని ప్రతిబింబిస్తుంది. ప్రతిభ, వ్యూహాత్మక ఆలోచన , అంతర్జాతీయ క్రీడా ప్రమాణాలను పెంపొందించే కార్యక్రమాలకు మద్దతు ఇవ్వడానికి మేము కట్టుబడి ఉన్నాము.”
విఐటి-ఏపి విశ్వవిద్యాలయం రిజిస్ట్రార్, గౌరవ అతిథి డా. జగదీష్ చంద్ర వ్యాఖ్యానిస్తూ: “ఇంతటి భారీ టోర్నమెంట్ను విజయవంతంగా నిర్వహించడం అనేది మా నిర్వాహక కమిటీలు, వాలంటీర్లు, అధ్యాపకులు, సిబ్బంది ,భాగస్వాముల యొక్క నిశితమైన ప్రణాళిక, సమష్టి కృషి ,అంకితభావానికి నిదర్శనం. ఈ కార్యక్రమాన్ని ఒక చిరస్మరణీయ విజయంగా మలచడంలో తమ ఉనికి ,ప్రోత్సాహంతో దోహదపడిన పాల్గొన్న వారందరికీ, అధికారులకు మరియు ప్రముఖులకు మేము కృతజ్ఞతలు తెలియజేస్తున్నాము.”
శ్రీ కె.వి.వి. ఆంధ్ర చెస్ అసోసియేషన్ ఛైర్మన్ శర్మ తన ప్రశంసలను వ్యక్తం చేస్తూ ఇలా అన్నారు: “మొదటి అమరావతి ఫిడే రేటింగ్ ఓపెన్ చెస్ టోర్నమెంట్ ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్లోని చెస్ ఈవెంట్లకు ఒక కొత్త ప్రమాణాన్ని నెలకొల్పింది. VIT-AP విశ్వవిద్యాలయం అందించిన అద్భుతమైన మౌలిక సదుపాయాలు, ఆతిథ్యం ,సంస్థాగత మద్దతు క్రీడాకారులకు ఒక అత్యుత్తమ పోటీ వాతావరణాన్ని సృష్టించాయి. ఈ భాగస్వామ్యాన్ని మరింత బలోపేతం చేసి, భారతదేశ చెస్ క్యాలెండర్లో అమరావతిని ఒక ప్రముఖ గమ్యస్థానంగా తీర్చిదిద్దాలని మేము ఆశిస్తున్నాము.”
ఈ టోర్నమెంట్, ఔత్సాహిక ,వృత్తిపరమైన చెస్ క్రీడాకారులకు ఫిడే రేటింగ్ పాయింట్లను సంపాదించుకోవడానికి ఒక విలువైన వేదికను అందించడమే కాకుండా, క్రీడా నైపుణ్యానికి ,మేధో పోటీకి ఒక ముఖ్యమైన కేంద్రంగా అమరావతి ఆవిర్భావాన్ని కూడా బలపరిచింది.
ఆంధ్ర చెస్ అసోసియేషన్ అధ్యక్షుడు డాక్టర్ సురేష్ మాట్లాడుతూ, “భారతదేశం నలుమూలల నుండి ,విదేశాల నుండి అద్భుతమైన భాగస్వామ్యం, చెస్ యొక్క పెరుగుతున్న ప్రజాదరణను ,ఈ టోర్నమెంట్పై చెస్ కమ్యూనిటీ ఉంచిన నమ్మకాన్ని ప్రతిబింబిస్తుంది. ఇంతటి ఉన్నత ప్రమాణాలతో కూడిన కార్యక్రమాన్ని అందించడానికి మాతో భాగస్వామ్యం అయినందుకు VIT-AP విశ్వవిద్యాలయానికి మేము కృతజ్ఞతలు తెలియజేస్తున్నాము. ఈ టోర్నమెంట్ అన్ని వయసుల క్రీడాకారులకు పోటీ పడటానికి, నేర్చుకోవడానికి ,వారి చెస్ ప్రయాణంలో పురోగతి సాధించడానికి ఒక అద్భుతమైన వేదికను అందించింది.” అని అన్నారు.
ఈ సందర్భంగా VIT-AP విశ్వవిద్యాలయం విద్యార్థి సంక్షేమ శాఖ డిప్యూటీ డైరెక్టర్ డాక్టర్ ఖదీర్ పాషా, శారీరక విద్య డైరెక్టర్ డాక్టర్ ఎన్. రామచంద్ర రావు, ఆంధ్ర చెస్ అసోసియేషన్ కార్యదర్శి శ్రీ జగదీష్ కూడా పాల్గొన్నారు.
1st Amaravati FIDE Rating Chess Tournament Concludes Successfully at VIT-AP University, Attracting 943 Players from Across India and Beyond
Amaravati, June 9, 2026: The VIT-AP 1st Amaravati FIDE Rating Chess Tournament, jointly organized by VIT-AP University and the Andhra Chess Association, concluded successfully on June 8, 2026 evening, marking a significant milestone in the promotion of chess and intellectual sports in Andhra Pradesh.
The eight-day tournament commenced on June 1, 2026, and witnessed an overwhelming response from the chess fraternity across India and abroad. A total of 943 players participated in the event, representing 21 states and 2 countries. Among them were 669 internationally rated players and 76 titled players, including International Masters, Candidate Masters, FIDE Masters, and other distinguished competitors. The tournament also showcased remarkable inclusivity, with participants ranging from 4 years of age to seasoned chess veterans. Winners in different categories awarded with prize money and Trophy. A total cash prize to the tune of Rs.30 lakhs was rewarded to the winners of difference categories
The championship attracted the attention of several eminent dignitaries and public representatives who visited the tournament during its course.
The inaugural ceremony on June 1, 2026, was graced by Shri Harish Kumar Gupta, DGP and Head of Police Force, Shri Ake Ravi Krishna, IG, Anti-Narcotics Cell, and Shri Vakul Jindal, SP Guntur, who officially flagged off the tournament.

- June 4, 2026: Chairman, Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Ravi Naidu
- June 5, 2026: Hon’ble Minister for BC Welfare, Handlooms and Textiles, Smt. S. Savitha, who also participated in a tree plantation drive on the occasion of World Environment Day; later in the day, Hon’ble Minister for Labour and Factories, Shri Vasamsetty Subhash
- June 6, 2026: Chairperson, AP Women’s Commission, Smt. Rayapati Sailaja; Director, AIIMS Mangalagiri, Dr. Ahanthem Santa Singh; and Chief Engineer, APCRDA, Shri M. Venkateswara Rao
- June 7, 2026: Collector and District Magistrate, Guntur, Shri C.M. Saikanth Varma
