** Cash Prizes Up to Rs 3 Lakhs

The State Government is set to present prestigious awards for the year 2025-26 to media representatives who have demonstrated exceptional talent in the field of journalism. This was announced by Alapati Suresh Kumar. He spoke during a media conference held at the local C.R. Media Academy office, where he was joined by K.S. Viswanathan, Director of the Department of Information and Public Relations.
**Special Committee Constituted for Awards**
Alapati Suresh Kumar stated that the government has appointed a special committee to oversee the selection and presentation of the journalists’ awards. He informed that the committee would comprise former *India Today* Editor A.A.V. Prasad, Andhra Kesari University In-charge Vice-Chancellor D.V.R. Murthy, and retired High Court Judge Justice Satyanarayana Murthy as its members. He added that K.S. Viswanathan, Director of the Department of Information, would serve as the Member-Convener.
**Cash Prizes Up to Rs 3 Lakhs**
The Chairman announced that a total of 12 awards would be presented, in accordance with the orders issued during the era of the united Andhra Pradesh state. A cash prize of Rs 3 lakhs will be awarded for the Lifetime Achievement Award, while the awards for ‘Best Journalist’ and ‘Best Photojournalist’ will carry a cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs each. He further stated that a prize money of Rs 1 lakh each would be awarded for the remaining categories. He stated that while some awards would be selected at the committee’s discretion, applications would be invited for others, and eligible candidates would be chosen accordingly.
**Journalist Awards Revived After 2017**
Speaking on the occasion, K.S. Viswanathan, Director of the Department of Information, stated that the government is committed to presenting awards to journalists every year. He expressed his delight that the awards process is being revived for the 2025-26 year, marking its return after 2017. He further informed that steps are being taken to issue an official notification within a week and to organize the awards presentation ceremony in July.
Alapati Suresh Kumar clarified that for the journalist awards, minimum professional experience would be the sole criterion considered, and accreditation status would not be a factor. C.R. Media Academy Secretary V. Maniram, Joint Director I. Surya Chandra Rao, and others participated in the meeting.

అవార్డుల కోసం ప్రత్యేక కమిటీ ఏర్పాటు
జర్నలిస్టుల అవార్డుల ఎంపిక, ప్రదానానికి ప్రభుత్వం ప్రత్యేక కమిటీని నియమించిందని ఆలపాటి సురేశ్ కుమార్ తెలిపారు. ఈ కమిటీలో ఇండియా టుడే మాజీ ఎడిటర్ ఏ.ఏ.వి. ప్రసాద్, ఆంధ్ర కేసరి విశ్వవిద్యాలయం ఇన్చార్జ్ వైస్ ఛాన్సలర్ డి.వి.ఆర్. మూర్తి, రిటైర్డ్ హైకోర్టు న్యాయమూర్తి జస్టిస్ సత్యన్నారాయణ మూర్తి సభ్యులుగా ఉంటారని తెలిపారు. సమాచార శాఖ డైరెక్టర్ కె.ఎస్. విశ్వనాథన్ మెంబర్ కన్వీనర్గా వ్యవహరిస్తారని చెప్పారు.
రూ.3 లక్షల వరకు నగదు బహుమతులు
ఉమ్మడి ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ కాలంలో జారీ అయిన ఉత్తర్వుల ప్రకారం మొత్తం 12 అవార్డులను ఇవ్వనున్నట్లు చైర్మన్ వెల్లడించారు. లైఫ్టైమ్ అచీవ్మెంట్ అవార్డుకు రూ.3 లక్షలు, ఉత్తమ జర్నలిస్టు మరియు ఉత్తమ ఫోటో జర్నలిస్టు అవార్డులకు రూ.2 లక్షలు చొప్పున నగదు బహుమతి అందజేయనున్నారు. మిగిలిన అవార్డులకు రూ.1 లక్ష చొప్పున ప్రైజ్ మనీ ఇవ్వనున్నట్లు తెలిపారు. కొన్ని అవార్డులను కమిటీ విచక్షణతో ఎంపిక చేయగా, మరికొన్నింటికి దరఖాస్తులు స్వీకరించి అర్హులను ఎంపిక చేస్తామని చెప్పారు.
2017 తర్వాత మళ్లీ జర్నలిస్టుల అవార్డులు
సమాచార శాఖ డైరెక్టర్ కె.ఎస్. విశ్వనాథన్ మాట్లాడుతూ, ప్రతి ఏడాది జర్నలిస్టుల అవార్డులు అందించేలా ప్రభుత్వం సంకల్పించిందన్నారు. 2017 తర్వాత మళ్లీ 2025-26 సంవత్సరానికి ఈ అవార్డుల ప్రక్రియను పునరుద్ధరించడం ఆనందంగా ఉందన్నారు. ఒక వారం రోజుల్లో అధికారిక ప్రకటన విడుదల చేసి, జూలై నెలలో అవార్డుల ప్రదాన కార్యక్రమం నిర్వహించేలా చర్యలు తీసుకుంటున్నామని తెలిపారు.
జర్నలిస్టుల అవార్డులకు కనీస అనుభవం మాత్రమే ప్రమాణంగా పరిగణిస్తామని, అక్రిడిటేషన్తో సంబంధం లేదని ఆలపాటి సురేశ్ కుమార్ స్పష్టం చేశారు. ఈ సమావేశంలో సి.ఆర్. మీడియా అకాడమీ కార్యదర్శి వి. మణిరాం, జాయింట్ డైరెక్టర్ ఐ. సూర్య చంద్రరావు తదితరులు పాల్గొన్నారు.
