Do not vote based on caste… elect me based on my performance.
- An appeal to voters by AB Venkateswara Rao…
- The alliance parties and the YSR Party are in cahoots…
- Corporators at the grassroots level are engaging in plunder…
- I entered politics to change this…
Vijayawada:
“Do not vote for me based on my caste. Elect me based on my performance. Think about who will truly be of service to the people. Caste is not what matters; the welfare of all the people should be the essence of politics,” said retired DGP AB Venkateswara Rao, who is contesting as an independent candidate in the Vijayawada mayoral election. He questioned, “At the higher levels, the alliance parties and the YSR Party have joined hands, while at the grassroots level, the corporator candidates are indulging in corrupt and devious politics. They are all working together to share the spoils and plunder the system—is this what you call politics?” “I entered politics with the hope that the public would develop the consciousness to drive out such people,” stated AB Venkateswara Rao (ABV). He declared that if the people of Vijayawada (Bejawada) grant him their support, he will drive away these predatory politicians—likening them to ‘bandicoot rats’ (vermin)—who are plundering the city. His remarks were met with thunderous applause from the crowd. He spoke in this vein while visiting Patamata Lanka and Gayatri Nagar.
For the sake of constructive change…
Speaking across various localities, AB Venkateswara Rao urged the public to support his candidacy, explaining that he is running to eradicate the rot of corrupt politics and bring about constructive, positive change. He promised to resolve the issues faced by the people and work toward a better future for Vijayawada. His primary objective, he noted, is to cleanse the decayed systems and put an end to political exploitation. “I will transform Vijayawada into a city free from ‘rowdies’ (thugs and criminals). Just as in the past, I will drive these hardened criminals out of the city. I guarantee that within 24 hours of taking the oath as Mayor, I will put an immediate stop to the extortion and illegal ‘levies’ collected by these thugs.” He assured the common citizens, laborers, and small-scale traders—who currently face immense hardships—that he would stand by them. Drawing on his experience as a former Director General of Police (DGP), he emphasized that he knows exactly how to root out corruption. “My entire struggle is for your sake; all you need to do is cast your vote for me and ensure my victory,” he urged. You have witnessed the governance of the opposition parties. You elected them with high hopes, yet they delivered a malicious and unjust administration. It is time for a change—let us establish a transparent, corruption-free government. He urged everyone to cast their votes for the ‘gas cylinder’ symbol. He criticized the ruling authorities and officials, holding their failures responsible for the dire situation where the water from the Krishna River—even when available—is too contaminated to drink. He further asserted that corruption and blatant negligence are the root causes of all these problems.
On Tuesday morning, he led a campaign rally accompanied by leaders from the Congress, CPM, and CPI—parties supporting his candidacy—along with the respective corporator candidates for those divisions and Kavuri Sravani. The rally passed through Auto Nagar, Ashok Nagar, NSM School, Patamata Lanka, Nirmala Convent, the Gurudwara, the APIIC Colony, and the Novotel area. In the evening, another rally was held in the One Town area, covering Vastralatha and Besant Road.
