In the modern political arena, we have grown accustomed to a certain level of calculated hostility between the ruling government and the opposition. They squabble over various policies, trade barbs in the Assembly, and portray one another as the ultimate villains in the narrative of the state’s problems and progress. However, a truly remarkable spectacle has recently unfolded—a sudden, harmonious convergence marked by the unity of both the ruling and opposition parties.
Unfortunately, this rare political unity is not aimed at combating systemic corruption, curbing the rampant culture of MLAs switching parties for personal gain, or resolving the severe unemployment crisis plaguing our youth. Instead, the political elite have united to fight a far more formidable adversary: the Internet.
It all started with a recent comment made by the protector of the Constitution—none other than the Chief Justice of India. In response, a student named Abhijit Dipke immediately created a satirical meme and a small website, labeling it the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP). It has since garnered millions of supporters, particularly among the Indian youth.
The Youth Are Hero’s
What both the ruling and opposition parties fail to realize is that citizens—particularly the tech-savvy youth—are not oblivious. The youth of this country are observing these government actions—and the awkward reactions accompanying them—with a mixture of astonishment and amusement. Frightened by an online movement that dared to point out that “the Emperor has no clothes,” the political establishment appears increasingly detached from reality.
