1. ప్రపంచస్థాయి మౌలిక వసతుల నిర్మాణం
దేశ, అంతర్జాతీయ వ్యాపారాలు , పర్యాటకులను ఆకర్షించేందుకు వైజాగ్ మౌలిక వసతులు, రోడ్లు, సౌకర్యాలను ఆధునీకరించటం తప్పనిసరి. ప్రధాన వ్యాపార కూడళ్లలో ఇబ్బందులను అధిగమిచాలి. జగదాంబ, రామాటాకీస్ ట్రాఫిక్ తీవ్రత ఎక్కువగా ఉంది. సీతమ్మ ధరకు కేవలం ఒకే బస్సు ఉంది. ప్రభుత్వం వీటి మీద సానుకూల చర్యలు తీసుకోవలసి ఉంది. ట్రాఫిక్ నియంత్రణ కోసం ఇంటర్నెట్ అఫ్ థింగ్స్ (IoT) ఆధారిత సిస్టమ్లు, స్మార్ట్ సిగ్నల్స్, రోడ్లపై ఉన్న గుంతల గుర్తించి తగు చర్యలు తీసుకోవాలి. వర్షాకాలంలో వచ్చే నీటి, నిల్వ సమస్యలు, డ్రైనేజ్ సమస్యలను తక్షణమే పరిష్కరించాలి. నగర సంస్కృతి, సంప్రదాయాలను ప్రతిబింబించే చారిత్రక ప్రదేశాలను కాపాడాలి.
వారసత్వ కట్టడాలను సంరక్షిస్తూ పౌర సదుపాయాలను అభివృద్ధి చేయాలి. వీధి జంతువుల నియంత్రణ, శుభ్రత వంటి అంశాలపై దృష్టి సారించాలి. ఇది పౌరుల జీవిత ప్రమాణాలను మెరుగుపరచడమే కాకుండా పెట్టుబడిదారులు, పర్యాటకుల నమ్మకాన్ని పెంచుతుందనటంలో సందేహం లేదు.
2. వాణిజ్య కార్యాలయ ప్రదేశాల అభివృద్ధి
అంతర్జాతీయ గూగుల్ సంస్థ వైజాగ్ లో 1 గిగావాట్ సామర్థ్యంతో కూడిన హైపర్ స్కేల్ ఎ ఐ డేటా సెంటర్ను ₹87,520 కోట్ల పెట్టుబడితో వచ్చే 5 ఏళ్లలో ఏర్పాటు చేయడనుండటం విశేషం. ముఖ్యమంత్రి చంద్రబాబు నాయుడు నాయకత్వంలో ప్రభుత్వం వేగంగా చర్యలు తీసుకుంటూ అవసరమైన అనుమతులు, భూమి, ఇతర ప్రోత్సాహాలను అందించనుంది. ఈ ప్రాజెక్ట్ లక్షలాది గా ప్రత్యక్ష, పరోక్ష ఉద్యోగాలను సృష్టించడమే కాకుండా, ఇతర అంతర్జాతీయ సంస్థలను కూడా విశాఖ వైపు ఆకర్షించనుంది. టాటా, సిఫీ వంటి పెద్ద సాఫ్ట్వేర్ సంస్థలు కూడా డేటా సెంటర్లను ఏర్పాటు చేయ నున్నాయి. ఇది ఆంధ్ర రాష్ట్ర 6-గిగావాట్ డేటా సెంటర్ లక్ష్యాన్ని చేరుకోవడంలో కీలకం కానున్నాయి. ప్రభుత్వం చిన్న, మధ్య తరహా సంస్థలను కూడా ప్రోత్సహిస్తూ ప్రత్యేక ఆర్థిక మండలాలు (SEZs), ఆవిష్కరణ కారిడార్లను అభివృద్ధి చేయాలి. వేగవంతమైన అనుమతులు ,పన్ను రాయితీలు కల్పిస్తే అనేక సంస్థలు వచ్ఛే అవకాశాలు మెరుగుపడతాయి.
3. సురక్షిత తాగునీరు
వైజాగ్ లో తాగునీటి కొరత (~66 MLD) ఒక ప్రధాన సమస్యగా ఉంది. మేఘాద్రిగడ్డ, ముదసర్లవ, రాయవాడ, తాటి పూడి, యేలేరు వంటి జలాశయాల నీటి వనరులను బలోపేతం చేయాలి. నీటి శుద్ధి కేంద్రాలను ఆధునీకరించి, పైప్లైన్ నష్టాలను తగ్గించి, సమాన పంపిణీని నిర్ధారించి అమలు చేయాలి. పాఠశాలలు, ఆసుపత్రులు, ప్రభుత్వ కార్యాలయాలలో తాగునీటి సదుపాయాలను పర్యవేక్షించి భద్రతను కల్పించాలి. అలాగే ప్రైవేటు కంపెనీల నీటి అవసరాలను గతంలో లాగా నిర్లక్ష్యం చేయకూడదు. ఇది ప్రజారోగ్యం, స్థిరమైన అభివృద్ధికి పునాది.
4. పర్యాటక భద్రత, ప్రచారం
వైజాగ్ లోని సముద్ర తీరాలు, కొండలు, సాంస్కృతిక వారసత్వం పర్యాటకులకు ప్రధాన ఆకర్షణలు. భద్రతా లోపాలను గుర్తించి, ప్రముఖ పర్యాటక కేంద్రాలలో శిక్షణ పొందిన భద్రతా సిబ్బంది , రియల్-టైమ్ నిఘా వ్యవస్థలను మెరుగుపర్చాలి. బీచ్లు, పార్కులు, వారసత్వ ప్రదేశాల్లో మరుగుదొడ్లు, లైటింగ్, అత్యవసర ఆరోగ్య సదుపాయాలను మెరుగుపరచాలి. వైజాగ్ ను స్నేహపూర్వక తీర పర్యాటక గమ్యస్థానంగా ప్రచారం చేయాలి.
5. నివాసయోగ్యమైన, సురక్షిత గృహాల అభివృద్ధి అవసరం
అంతర్జాతీయ పెట్టుబడిదారులు, సంస్థలు, వృత్తి నిపుణులు పెరుగుతున్న నేపధ్యంలో ఆధునిక నివాస సదుపాయాల అవసరం పెరుగుతోంది. వైజాగ్ లొ పాత అపార్ట్మెంట్లు, వుడా భవనాలు, ప్రైవేట్ సొసైటీలు వంటి వాటిపై భద్రతా తనిఖీలు చేయాలి. కూలిపోవానికి సిద్ధంగా ఉన్న భవనాల పై గ్రేటర్ విశాఖపట్నం మున్సిపల్ కార్పొరేషన్ -జీవీఎంసీ దృష్టి పెట్టాలి. ముఖ్యంగా నగర నడిబొడ్డున సీతమ్మధార ప్రాంతంలో ఉన్న ఉడా హోసింగ్ సొసైటీ నివాస సముదాయాలు, బీచ్ రోడ్డు లో ఉన్న నివాస భవనాలు కూలిపోవటానికి సిద్ధంగా ఉన్నాయి. ఇలాంటి పాత ప్రైవేట్, భవనాలను పునరుద్ధరించి లేదా పునర్నిర్మించే దిశగా స్థానిక ప్రజలను, హోసింగ్ సొసైటీ లను ప్రోత్సాహించాలి. ప్రమాదకరమైన, దెబ్బతిన్న భవనాలను కూల్చి కొత్తగా నిర్మించటం అత్యవసరం. పచ్చదనం, సౌకర్యాలతో కూడిన హౌసింగ్ కాలనీలను అభివృద్ధి చేసే దిశగా ప్రైవేటు కంపెనీలను ప్రోత్సాహించాలి. గతంలో కొన్ని భవనాలు కూలిపోయి ప్రమాదాలు జరిగినప్పుడు జీవీఎంసీ వారికీ 400 వందలకు పైగా నోటీసులు ఇఛ్చి ఆ గృహాలను పునర్నిర్మించాలని ఆదేశాలు జారీ చేసినా స్థానిక ప్రజలు అప్రమత్తం కాలేదు. గ్రేటర్ విశాఖపట్నం మున్సిపల్ కార్పొరేషన్ ఈ విషయంలో తగు చర్యలు తీసుకోవాలి. స్థానికులు కూడా విషయం తీవ్రతను గుర్తించి ప్రభుతవముతో సహకరించి సురక్షిత నివాసాలను నిర్మించుకోవాలి. కొన్నిచోట్ల పాడైపోయిన భవనాలు మత్తు పదార్థాల వంటి అక్రమ కార్యకలాపాలకు కేంద్రాలుగా మారకుండా జాగ్రత్తలు తీసుకోవాలి.
గత రెండు వారాల్లో 15 కేసులు నమోదు కావటం గాంజా మత్తు పదార్ధాల తీవ్రత ఏంటో తేసుస్తోంది. కొంతమంది గ్రేటర్ విశాఖపట్నం మున్సిపల్ కార్పొరేషన్ అధికారులు పన్నుల సేకరణలో చూపే ఉత్సాహం, పౌరుల సమస్యల పరిష్కారంలో కూడా చూపాల్సిన ఆవశ్యకత ఉంది. సమయానుగుణంగా, సమగ్రంగా ఈ చర్యలు తీసుకుంటే, వైజాగ్ ప్రపంచస్థాయి సంస్థలకు, వృత్తి నిపుణులు, వ్యాపారులు, పర్యాటకులకు ఆకర్షణీయమైన కేంద్రంగా మారుతుంది.

GVMC పై సమస్యలపై ముందస్తుగా వ్యవహరించి, ప్రజలకు తగిన సూచనలు చేసి, అమలుదిశగా ప్రయత్నిస్తే వైజాగ్ నిజమైన గ్లోబల్ నగరంగా ఉత్సాహభరితంగా, సురక్షితంగా, భవిష్యత్కు సిద్ధంగా మారనుంది.
Making Vizag a Global Hub for Business, Tourism, and Livability
Visakhapatnam (Vizag), often called the city of destiny, is poised to become a global destination for investment, innovation and tourism under the dynamic leadership of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Andhra Pradesh’s financial and technology capital, stands at the cusp of global transformation. With major corporations such as Google, Tata, and Sify announcing large-scale multi billion dollar investments in data infrastructure, Vizag is poised to emerge as India’s next technology and tourism powerhouse. To unlock its full potential and sustain, the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) must implement a cohesive plan focusing on infrastructure modernization, safe housing, water security, civic challenges, and tourism excellence while creating an ecosystem that attracts global corporations, skilled professionals, and tourists alike.

Vizag city should revamp its infrastructure & amenities to meet the challenges for accommodating local, international businesses and tourists. Keeping historical places intact to showcase city’s culture & traditions. It’s imperative for the government to build or renovate world class roads network, integrating IoT based traffic management systems, smart signalling, and automated pothole detection for real-time response. Chronic drainage issues and monsoon flooding require immediate attention. Modernized storm water management and continuous maintenance are essential. Maintain heritage structures while upgrading civic amenities. Address issues such as stray animal management, pothole repairs, and cleanliness to improve quality of life. This will certainly help in Efficient mobility, improved safety and enhanced investor and tourist confidence.
2. Renovate and or build new commercial office spaces
It’s welcoming to know that one of the magnificent 7 company namely Google is going to establish 1-GW hyper scale AI data centre in Vizag with a whopping investment of 15 Billion USD (~ ₹87,520 crore) in the next 5 years. Government of Andhra Pradesh under the Visionary Leadership of Nara Chandrababu Naidu acting swiftly on this project to give all required clearances & permissions along with allocating land & incentives. This project not only creates an ecosystem & 25 times multiplier effect on the regional ecosystem, creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs.
So other International companies may consider coming to Vizag. This whole ecosystem services domestic and international clients for their software & hardware needs. In turn creating employment job opportunity to the technically skilled engineers as well as non tech jobs. It’s a boon to aspiring engineers to prepare, acquire and sharpen technical skills to get employed. Also giant software companies like Tata & Sify also setting up their data centres. This will help AP’s government’s ambition of reaching 6-GW data centre capacity. Government’s efforts are laudable to pursue businesses to come in, with the welcoming ecosystem, many small & midsize companies would eventually setup in Vizag. To support this urge, renovate existing commercial complexes and develop plug-and-play office spaces for domestic and international firms. Create special economic zones (SEZs) and innovation corridors with world-class digital and physical infrastructure. Offer fast-track approvals and fiscal incentives to attract MNCs, start-ups, and ancillary industries. This will create thriving commercial hub supporting the state’s 6-GW data centre vision and diversifying employment opportunities.
3. Ensure Access to Safe Drinking Water
Safe and reliable drinking water remains a critical challenge for residents. Vizag currently faces a ~66 MLD supply gap with intermittent service. Strengthen source protection for Meghadrigedda, Mudasarlova, Raiwada, Tatipudi, and Yeleru reservoirs. Upgrade water treatment plants, reduce pipeline losses, and ensure equitable distribution. Guarantee point-of-use safety in schools, hospitals, and public offices through proper maintenance of water dispensers. Unlike earlier, private companies shouldn’t be waiting for water needs. This will ensure Universal access to safe drinking water, a prerequisite for public health and sustainable growth.
- Tourism Safety and Promotion
Vizag’s coastline, hills, and cultural heritage make it a premier tourist destination. However, incidents in the past (Pahalgam) highlight the need for stronger safety and infrastructure measures. Deploy trained security personnel and real-time surveillance systems at key tourist sites. Upgrade public amenities (restrooms, signage, lighting, emergency response) at tourists places like beaches, parks, and heritage sites. Launch global tourism campaigns to promote Vizag as a safe, family-friendly coastal destination. This will help in increased tourist arrivals, higher local revenue, and international brand visibility.
- Develop Livable and Safe Housing
A growing influx of professionals and investors demands world-class residential infrastructure. Conduct a city-wide audit of aging apartments, VUDA buildings (Seethammadhara), and private societies. Enforce structural safety standards, demolish or rebuild unsafe buildings, especially along the RK Beach corridor. Promote affordable, green, and gated housing communities with modern amenities. Convert unused or unsafe properties to community assets, avoiding illegal use.
Housing plays an important role in accommodating new comers to the city for employment and doing Business. Within the city work to livable places like housing, gated communities, service apartments, hotels should be developed on par with international standards. Oldest government buildings, old private housing societies, Vuda apartments in Seethamma Dhara, guest houses with in Vizag should be renovated or rebuild wherever necessary. This will ensure safe & best living conditions. Business people & local communities will certainly appreciate living in safe homes.
Local elderly population believe that Vizag is a treasure trove for Andhra Pradesh with all the existing infrastructure, private & central government institutions. Recently Google, Tata’s, Sify promised to establish their organizations in Vizag. As you are aware Google signed MOU with AP to house 1GW hyper scale data center. These developments helped other businesses & companies to look for Vizag city as their potential location. At Present local people, small, large businesses enthralled & very much welcoming such developments & initiatives taken by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Thus real estate businesses have gained momentum which is going to create job opportunities. But we need to understand that some things are not at all right. But alarmingly some and or more issues plaguing the city living conditions & threatening life in some cases. It so happened in the past that incidents like collapse of dilapidated apartments cost lives in 2017 at xxx location.
In this context government and GVMC officer’s issued notices to the local residents living in old apartments buildings to demolish and build a fresh. Because these buildings life tenure expired and dangerously crying to collapse, more so in rainy season. It needs to be verified as to how many of the inhabitants honoured GVMC notices & taken care of their living homes.
But private housing society apartments, gated communities apartments, service apartments, hotels, restaurants, Vuda apartments are at the cusp of collapsing as you can see in above pics. Especially on RK Beach road the crumbling, dilapidated resedential buildings belonging to private people posing threat to their lives. Some of the unused buildings may be home to illegal activities like drugs, marijuana, and many others.
As you can see, these buildings are aged out, dilapidated due to incessant rains and poor maintenance. All of these will send wrong message to the working professionals, tourists, companies, industrialists and Investor’s at large who are coming to establish their offices in Vizag. It so appears that so much enthusiasm shown by GVMC officers in collecting house taxes, but they do not show or respond such an interest to the issues faced by the residents like requisite safe, secure housing, welcoming infrastructure. If GVMC, Government don’t act in fixing these basic problems faced by locals and offer excellent amenities in the city to the oncoming business communities then they will bear the brunt of the loss of lives due to any mishap that may occur by the dilapidated buildings.
The remedy may be to renovate such old houses, apartments and in most of the cases they should be destroyed and build from scratch. This will help living & working conditions at it’s best to the local people, business communities who come to live and work. Also showcasing clean, clear, beautiful, affordable and accessible living places attract tourists, working professionals, small to big international companies and Global Investors alike. Government should step up the ante for the aforesaid issues & resolve as early as possible. This will make Vizag a global hub for working professionals, opportune businesses both local & International, and pleasure trips for tourists. Safe, attractive housing that enhances Vizag’s appeal to residents, investors, and expatriates.
Vizag’s transformation is well underway, supported by visionary leadership and unprecedented investment. However, sustainable success requires swift, coordinated action on infrastructure, housing, water, and tourism. A proactive and accountable approach by GVMC and state agencies will ensure Vizag’s evolution into a truly global city—vibrant, secure, and future-ready.
