MoU with Food Future Foundation as part of ‘Jagananna Gorumudda’

School Education Principal Secretary Shri Praveen Prakash said that special measures are being taken to implement the Jagananna Gorumudda program in a more robust manner so that students studying in government schools are provided food with adequate nutritional value and good standards.
Praveen Prakash participated as the chief guest in the state level workshop “Jagananna Gorumudda – Food Literacy” organized in collaboration with Food Future Foundation at Shamrock International School, Kannur on Friday.
Speaking on this occasion, Praveen Prakash said that according to the National Education Policy, ‘Health and Wellness Education’ should be a part of the curriculum. To this extent, a memorandum of understanding has been made with the Food Future Foundation on how ‘Food Literacy’ can be included as a subject. He said that food literacy helps in increasing the enrollment and increasing the capacity of the students. Pawan Agarwal, CEO of Food Future Foundation, has contributed a lot to this, he said. As part of this, the Food Future Foundation will study the issue of including ‘food literacy’ as a special subject in the curriculum of government schools and submit a report to the government.
On this occasion, Pawan Agarwal said that he is happy to enter into an MoU with Andhra Pradesh government to study the topic of food literacy in the curriculum. He said that food literacy is very important for students and it will bring about important changes in the society by making them aware about nutrition.
Earlier.. the representatives of Food Future Foundation explained the possibilities of food literacy, education for students, training of teachers, coordination etc. through power point presentation. After that, an interaction session was held with the teachers and students.
In this program the director of midday meal scheme Smt. Sobhika S.S., School Education Department officials, Social Welfare Department officials, Women and Child Welfare Department officials, Health Medical and Family Welfare Department officials, nutritionists, teachers, students and students’ parents participated.
