ఉప్పుతో ముప్పు

అన్నీ వేసి చూడు. నన్ను వేసి చూడు అని   అంటోదిట ఉప్పు.. అంటే ఉప్పు లేకుంటే ఏ పదార్థానికి రుచి రాదుకదా …అలా అని ఎక్కువ తిన్నామో అంతే .. సంగతులు.. అసలు రోజుకు ఎంత ఉప్పు తీసుకోవాలి. ఎంత తీసుకుంటే  ఆరోగ్యం.. విశయాలపై చర్చిద్దాం..

రోజుకు ఐదు గ్రాముల ఉప్పు వాడాలని వరల్డ్ హెల్త్ ఆర్గనైజేషన్ (డబ్ల్యుహెచ్ ఓ)తెలిపింది.  అంటే ఒక టీ స్పూన్ ఉప్పు మనకు సరిపోతుందన్నమాట. దీంతో సోడియం ఎక్కువయితే వచ్చే జబ్బులను మనం నివారించగలం.  ఇలాంటి జబ్బులనే నాన్ కమ్యూనికల్ డిసీజెస్ అంటారు. అంటే ఒకరి నుంచి మరొకరికి ఈ వ్యాధులు సంక్రమించవు గాని, వ్యక్తిగతంగా మన అలవాట్ల ద్వారా వీటిని తెచ్చుకుంటాము.  వీటినే లైఫ్ స్టైల్ డిస్ ఆర్డర్స్ అని కూడా అంటాము.  ఆ కోవకు చెందినవే డయాబెటీస్, బీపీ, వంటి రుగ్మతలు.

ఈ దశాబ్దం అంతం నాటికి దాదాపు 70 లక్షల మంది చావును ఉప్పు తక్కువ తీసుకోవడం ద్వారా నివారించగలమని గ్లోబల్ రిపోర్టు ఆఫ్ ఆన్ సోడియం ఇన్ టేక్ రిడక్షన్ వెల్లడించింది.

గుండె రక్తనాళాలజబ్బులను ఎక్కువ చేస్తుంది. వాటినే కార్డియో వాస్కులర్ డిసీజెస్ అంటాము. అంటే గుండెకు రక్తం సరఫరా చేసే నాళాలు దెబ్బతింటాయి దీంతో మరణాలు సంభవిస్తాయి.

ఉప్పులో సోడియం క్లోరైడ్ ఉంటుంది.  అంటే దానిలో 40 శాతం సోడియం, 60 శాతం క్లోరైడ్ ఉంటుంది. రోజుకు కేవలం 5 గ్రాముల సోడియం క్లోరైడ్ లో 2 గ్రాముల సోడియం తీసుకుంటే సరిపోతుంది.

డబ్ల్యుహెచ్ ఓ ప్రకారం పెద్దలు రెండు గ్రాముల సోడియం సరిపోతుంది. మనం తినే సోడియం, ఉప్పులో ఉంటుంది. అయితే మనం 9 నుంచి 12 గ్రాములు మనం తింటున్నాం.  భారత్, చైనాల్లో ఇది మరింత ఎక్కువగా ఉంది.

మనమీద ఎలా పనిచేస్తుంది ?

ఉప్పు ద్వారా మనం తీసుకునే సోడియం మన రక్తం ద్వారా  రక్తనాళాలపై ఒత్తిడి కలుగు చేస్తుంది.  రక్తనాళాల్లో ఉన్న సోడియంను  కిడ్నీలు ఫిల్టర్ చేస్తాయి. ఇది సక్రమంగా జరగాలంటే మరిన్ని మంచి నీటిని ఎప్పటికప్పుడు తాగుతూ ఉండాలి. రక్తనాణాలు పూడుకు పోవడం వల్ల వాటి ఒత్తిడి గుండెపై పడుతుంది. దీంతో హార్ట్ ఎటాక్ లేదా స్ర్టోక్ వస్తుంది. ఉప్పు ఎక్కవ తీసుకోవడం వల్ల మాత్రమే ఈ పరిస్థితికి లోనవుతాం.

ఒక్కమాటలో చెప్పాలంటే ఎంత ఎక్కువ ఉప్పు తీసుకుంటే అన్ని ఎక్కువ నీళ్లు తాగాలి. నీళ్లు ఎక్కువ తాగితే కిడ్నీలు వాటిని వడకడతాయి. లేకుండా రక్తనాళాలపై సోడియం ప్రభావం పడి గుండె జబ్బులకు దారి తీస్తుంది.

సోడియంతో నిండి ఉన్న రక్తం ఉంటే వాటర్ తీసుకోవడం పెరుగుతుంది దీంతో రక్తం పలుచగా మారుతుంది. దీంతో వాల్యూం ఆఫ్ బ్లడ్, ఫ్లూయిడ్ పెరుగుతుంది. ఎంత పెరిగితే అంత ప్రెషర్ దానిపై పడుతుంది. దీంతో అదనపు ఒత్తిడి వీన్స్ (సిరలు)పై పడుతుంది. దీనివల్ల హార్ట్ ఎటాక్, స్ర్టోక్; హార్ట్ ఫెయిల్యూర్ వంటి వాటికి గురవుతారు.

అంతేకాకుండా హైపర్ టెన్షన్, హార్ట్ ఎటాక్, స్ట్రోక్, కిడ్నీ డిసీజెస్, ఆస్ట్రియో పోరోసిస్ వంటి వాటికి గురవుతాము.

ఎక్కవ సోడియం ఉండే ఆహార పదార్ధాలు

పిజ్జా ,బర్గర్ల వంటి ఫాస్టుఫుడ్

అప్పడాలు, పచ్చళ్లు, సాస్, కెచప్ ల్లో ఎక్కువ సోడియం ఉంటుంది. చీజ్, రెడీ టు ఈట్ ప్యాక్స్ అండ్ సాక్స్ ఎక్కువ మోతాదుల్లో సోడియం వుంటుంది. కాబట్టి ఈ తరహా ఫుడ్ తినకుండా ఉండండి.

భారత్  తలసరి 10 గ్రాముల ఉప్పును ఉపయోగిస్తున్నారు. చైనా మనకంటే ఎక్కువగా 10.9 గ్రాముల సాల్ట్ వాడుతుంది.

డాక్టర్లు ఇంటిలో చేసిన ఫుడ్ నే  రికమండ్ చేస్తున్నారు. 400 మిల్లీ గ్రాముల సాల్ట్ ఉన్న పుడ్ ను ఉపయోగించవద్దని డాక్టర్లు చెబుతున్నారు. అంటే బ్రెయిన్, మోనో సోడియం గ్లుకమేట్ ఉన్నవాటిని తినకుండా ఉండటమే మంచిదని అంటునారు.

ఉప్పు ఎక్కువ తీసుకోవడం వల్ల అప్పటికప్పుడే చెడ్డఫలితాలు రాకపోవచ్చు గాని ఏదో ఒక రోజు మనం తప్పకుండా దాని ఫలితం అనుభవించవలసి వస్తుందనడం మాత్రం నిజం.

కాబట్టి ముందునుంచి జాగ్రత్తలు పాటిస్తే ఆరోగ్యాన్ని జాగ్రత్తగా కాపాడుకోవచ్చు.

తప్పనిసరిగా తక్కువ ఉప్పుతో తినడం నేర్చుకోవాలి. అలాగే మాస్ మీడియా ద్వారా ఉప్పు ఎంతతీసుకోవాలన్నదానిపై అవగాహన కల్పించాలి. ప్యాక్డ్ ఫుడ్ ను తీసుకోకపోవడం, సోడియం ఎక్కువగా ఉండే ఆహార పదార్థాలను నియంత్రించాలి.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has advised to consume five grams of salt per day. It means that one teaspoon of salt is enough for us. With this, we can prevent the diseases caused by excess sodium. Such diseases are called non-communicable diseases. This means that these diseases are not transmitted from one person to another, but we get them through our personal habits. These are also called lifestyle disorders. Diseases like diabetes, BP, etc. belong to that category.

The Global Report on Sodium Intake Reduction reveals that by the end of this decade, nearly 70 million deaths could be prevented by reducing salt intake.

Increases cardiovascular diseases. They are called Cardio Vascular Diseases. This means that the vessels that supply blood to the heart are damaged, resulting in death.

Salt contains sodium chloride. That means it contains 40 percent sodium and 60 percent chloride. A daily intake of 2 grams of sodium in just 5 grams of sodium chloride is sufficient.

According to the WHO, two grams of sodium is enough for adults. The sodium we eat is in salt. But we are eating 9 to 12 grams. It is more in India and China.

How does it work on us?

The sodium we take in through salt causes stress on the blood vessels through our blood. Kidneys filter sodium from blood vessels. For this to happen properly one should drink more good water regularly. Blood clots put pressure on the heart. This leads to a heart attack or stroke. This condition can only be caused by consuming too much salt.

In short, the more salt you consume, the more water you should drink. If you drink too much water, the kidneys will filter it. Without it, sodium affects the blood vessels and leads to heart disease.

If the blood is full of sodium, water intake increases and the blood becomes thinner. This increases the volume of blood and fluid. The more it increases, the more pressure it puts on it. This puts extra pressure on the veins. This causes heart attack, stroke; Like heart failure.

Besides, we are exposed to hypertension, heart attack, stroke, kidney diseases, osteoporosis.

Foods high in sodium

Fast food like pizza and burgers

Appadas, pickles, sauces, ketchup contain more sodium. Cheese, ready-to-eat packs and socks contain high doses of sodium. So avoid eating this type of food.

India consumes 10 grams of salt per capita. China uses 10.9 grams of salt more than us.

Doctors are recommending home made food. Doctors say not to use pud with 400 mg of salt. It means that it is better not to eat brain and mono sodium glucomate.

Consuming too much salt may not give bad results right away but it is true that one day we will have to feel the result.

So if you follow precautions from the beginning you can protect your health carefully.

Must learn to eat less salt. Also awareness should be created through mass media about how much salt should be taken. Avoid taking packaged food and control foods that are high in sodium.
