Chandrababu Naidu Meets Bill Gates to Foster Collaboration in Health, Education, and Innovation

Davos, Switzerland, January 22, 2025: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu met with Bill Gates, Founder of Microsoft and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum summit in Davos. The meeting focused on forging partnerships to transform Andhra Pradesh into a global hub for health, education, and innovation.

During the discussion, the Chief Minister proposed the establishment of a Center of Excellence for Health Innovation and Diagnostics in Andhra Pradesh. Highlighting the potential of this center to deliver cutting-edge healthcare services to the public, Chief Minister emphasised the state’s commitment to leveraging innovation to improve public health outcomes.

He further invited Bill Gates to join the advisory board for the proposed Artificial Intelligence University in Andhra Pradesh. This initiative aims to position the state as a leader in AI research and development, aligning with global advancements in technology and education.

The Chief Minister also expressed interest in implementing BMGF’s successful programmes, such as health dashboards and other social initiatives, within Andhra Pradesh. He underscored the need for collaboration to adapt global innovations to local challenges, ensuring maximum impact.

Chandrababu Naidu assured Bill Gates that Andhra Pradesh could serve as a gateway for the foundation’s initiatives across South India, providing a platform to amplify its reach and effectiveness in the region.

“I am delighted to meet Bill Gates again after a long time,” said Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. “His focus on technology and innovation has been an inspiration to all. We discussed opportunities for collaboration in health and AI innovation, and I look forward to BMGF’s partnership in Andhra Pradesh’s progress,” he added.

Invitation to Hindustan Unilever

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also met Willem Uijen, Chief Supply Chain Officer of Unilever, a global leader in consumer goods known for its food, home care, beauty, and personal care products. Operating in India under the name Hindustan Unilever, the company is looking to expand in line with India’s growing demand.

As part of its expansion, Unilever is considering setting up a palm oil industry with an investment of ₹330 crore in Andhra Pradesh. The Chief Minister highlighted Visakhapatnam as an ideal location for a technology center related to Unilever’s beauty portfolio.

He also emphasised that Hindustan Unilever could benefit from the state’s vast agricultural output, which would support food processing, beauty, and home care product manufacturing. He invited the company to invest further in the state.

Meeting with Cenmat CEO

In a meeting with Roberto Bocca, a member of the World Economic Forum’s Executive Committee and Head of the Center for Energy and Materials (Cenmat), the Chief Minister sought assistance in attracting global investments to Andhra Pradesh in areas such as green hydrogen, battery storage, and solar manufacturing.

He also requested the WEF’s support for establishing a Clean Energy Knowledge and Skill Development Center in the state.

ఏఐ యూనివర్సిటీ ఏర్పాటుకు సలహా కోరిన సీఎం :

ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లో ఏర్పాటు చేయనున్న ఆర్టిఫిషియల్ ఇంటెలిజెన్స్ యూనివర్శిటీ కోసం బిల్ గేట్స్‌ను సలహాదారుల మండలిలో భాగస్వామ్యం కావాలని ముఖ్యమంత్రి ఆహ్వానించారు. బిల్ మిలిందా గేట్స్ ఫౌండేషన్ విజయవంతంగా అమలు చేస్తున్న హెల్త్ డ్యాష్‌బోర్డ్‌లు, సామాజిక కార్యక్రమాలను ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లో కూడా నిర్వహించాలని చంద్రబాబు సూచించారు. అంతర్జాతీయ ఆవిష్కరణలను స్థానికంగా వినియోగించుకునేలా సాయం అందించాలని కోరారు. బిల్ గేట్స్ ఫౌండేషన్‌కు దక్షిణాది రాష్ట్రాలకు ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌ను ముఖద్వారంగా చేసుకునేలా సహకరిస్తామని ముఖ్యమంత్రి తెలిపారు.

Davos, Switzerland, January 22, 2025: Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, highlighted the state’s strategic advantages for global investments during his third day at the World Economic Forum in Davos. He engaged with leaders of top multinational corporations to showcase Andhra Pradesh as an ideal destination for cutting-edge technology, green energy, and infrastructure projects.

Google Cloud Expansion in Andhra Pradesh

CM Chandrababu Naidu met Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian to discuss establishing a design center in Visakhapatnam for developing proprietary chips used in servers. He urged Google Cloud to set up a manufacturing unit in Andhra Pradesh to integrate its server supply chain. The Chief Minister assured complete support from the state government and highlighted the state’s readiness to serve as a global hub for server management services.

Existing Collaborations

Google Cloud, the third-largest cloud provider globally, has already established two cloud regions in Delhi and Mumbai. It recently signed an MoU with the Andhra Pradesh government to create a “Data City” in Visakhapatnam and advance artificial intelligence (AI) applications while fostering skill development opportunities for local youth.

Investment opportunities with Petronas

The Chief Minister met with Muhammad Taufik, President and Group CEO of Petronas, a leading Malaysian oil and gas company. Petronas plans to produce 5 million tons of green ammonia annually by 2030 and is exploring investments of ₹13,000–₹15,000 crore in a green hydrogen and ammonia plant in Kakinada. CM Chandrababu Naidu invited Petronas to expand further by investing in Mulapeta, emerging as a petrochemical hub, and the proposed Global Capability Center in the state.

Collaboration with PepsiCo

In a meeting with Eugene Willemsen, CEO of PepsiCo International Beverages, and Stephen Kehoe, Chairman of PepsiCo Foundation, CM Naidu proposed making Visakhapatnam a Global Delivery Center and a Digital Hub for PepsiCo. He also encouraged PepsiCo to partner with the Andhra Pradesh Community Natural Farming (APCNF) initiative to benefit local farmers through its supply chain. The Chief Minister suggested setting up a Kurkure manufacturing unit in the state to enhance industrial growth and provide employment opportunities.

Engagement with Bahrain Delegates

The Chief Minister also met with Hamad Al Mahmeed from the Bahrain Prime Minister’s Office and Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, CEO of Mumtalakat. He presented Andhra Pradesh’s progressive industrial policies and invited investments, emphasizing the state’s efficiency in facilitating businesses.

క్లౌడ్ ప్రొవైడర్‌లో ప్రపంచంలో మూడో అతి పెద్ద సంస్థ అయిన గూగుల్ క్లౌడ్.. తన ప్లాట్‌ఫామ్ కింద ఇప్పటికే భారత్‌లోని ఢిల్లీ, ముంబైలో రెండు క్లౌడ్ రీజియన్లు ఏర్పాటు చేసింది. ఇటీవల విశాఖపట్నంలో తమ ‘డేటా సిటీ’ ఏర్పాటు చేసేందుకు రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వంతో గూగుల్ ఎంవోయూ కుదుర్చుకుంది. అలాగే ఆర్టిఫిషియల్ ఇంటెలిజెన్స్ (AI) వినియోగాన్ని అభివృద్ధి చేయడానికి, రాష్ట్రంలోని యువతకు నైపుణ్యాభివృద్ధి అవకాశాలను పెంపొందించేందకు ఏపీతో ఒప్పందం చేసుకుంది.

పెట్రోనాస్ ప్రెసిడెంట్‌తో ముఖ్యమంత్రి చర్చలు

పెట్రోనాస్ ప్రెసిడెంట్, గ్రూప్ చీఫ్ ఎగ్జీక్యూటివ్ ఆఫీసర్ ముహమ్మద్ తౌఫిక్‌తో ముఖ్యమంత్రి చంద్రబాబు చర్చలు జరిపారు. ‘పెట్రోనాస్’ మలేషియాకు చెందిన ఆయిల్ అండ్ నేచురల్ గ్యాస్ కంపెనీ. ప్రస్తుతం గ్రీన్ హైడ్రోజన్, గ్రీన్ అమోనియా, గ్రీన్ మాలిక్యులస్‌కు సంబంధించి భారత్‌లో పెట్టుబడులు పెట్టేందుకు ప్రయత్నిస్తోంది. 2030 కల్లా ఏడాదికి 5 మిలియన్ టన్నుల గ్రీన్ అమ్మోనియా ఉత్పత్తి చేయాలని లక్ష్యంగా పెట్టుకుంది. ఇందుకు సంబంధించి కాకినాడ ప్లాంటులో రూ.13,000 కోట్ల నుంచి రూ.15,000 కోట్లు పెట్టుబడి పెట్టనుంది. పెట్రోకెమికల్ హబ్‌గా అవతరిస్తున్న మూలపేటలోనూ, అలాగే గ్లోబల్ కేపబిలిటీ సెంటర్‌లోనూ పెట్టుబడులు పెట్టాల్సిందిగా ముహమ్మద్ తౌఫిక్‌ను ముఖ్యమంత్రి ఆహ్వానించారు.

with “The Art of Living” for taking up Leadership development and capacity building programs for government officials through Vyakti Vikas Kendra, a Public Education and Charitable Trust founded under the aegis of Art of Living. Based on the directions of Hon’ble Chief Minister after the meeting with Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the Chairman of Vyakti Vikas Kendra Sri. Zurich/Switzerland, January 20 — Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, during his tour to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, addressed an enthusiastic gathering of Telugu entrepreneurs and professionals at a Meet and Greet event organised by the Telugu community in Zurich. He expressed his pride in being a part of the Telugu community and shared his vision for the state’s future.

Proud to Represent the Telugu Community

“It is my fortune to be born into the Telugu community, which has always been a source of inspiration. If there is a rebirth, I wish to be born as a Telugu child again. My heart and soul are dedicated to the progress of our people,” he said. He commended the global achievements of Telugus and emphasized their growing presence across the world.

Empowering Youth and Creating Opportunities

Chief Minister highlighted the importance of youth in nation-building and urged them to aspire for leadership roles. “Our people should not merely seek jobs but become job creators. The foundation we laid for IT and entrepreneurship has positioned Telugus as leaders globally,” he said.

He also stressed the need for inclusive growth, mentioning his initiatives to empower women through education and 33% reservations in colleges and jobs.

Transforming Andhra Pradesh into a Global Hub

Chandrababu Naidu outlined his vision to make Andhra Pradesh a hub for work-from-home opportunities and green energy. “We aim to leverage technological advancements, such as AI and green hydrogen, to create sustainable growth. Reflecting on his earlier tenure, the CM recalled his meeting with Bill Gates, which led to Microsoft’s establishment in Hyderabad. “Such milestones have propelled our community’s progress. Today, Satya Nadella, a proud Telugu individual, is the CEO of Microsoft,” he noted.

He attributed the success of initiatives like Hi-Tech City to the strategic vision and stable governance of his administration. “Winning elections is critical to sustaining development. With a stable government, we can transform the state into a global leader,” he said.

‘రాజకీయాల్లోకి వచ్చేందుకు యువతను ఎక్కువగా ప్రోత్సహించా. ఏ దేశమైనా యువత వల్లే అభివృద్ధి చెందుతుంది. యూరప్ లోని 12 దేశాల నుంచి ఈ సమావేశానికి మీరంతా వచ్చారు. గతంలో నేను ఇక్కడి ఎయిర్ పోర్టుకు వస్తే ఎవరూ ఉండేవారు కాదు. ఒకప్పుడు యూరప్‌లో తెలుగువారు ఉండేవారు కాదు. మన వాళ్లు చాలా తెలివైన వాళ్లు… ఎక్కడ అవకాశాలు అంటే అక్కడికి వెళ్తారు. ఊహించని అవకాశాలు భారతీయులకు వస్తాయి… అందులో తెలుగువారు అగ్రస్థానంలో ఉంటారు. యూరప్ మొత్తం వయసు సమస్యతో ఇబ్బంది పడుతోంది. ప్రపంచంలో మన వాళ్లకు ఎక్కువ అవకాశాలు వస్తున్నాయి. ప్రపంచంలో ఎన్నిదేశాలు ఉన్నాయో అన్ని చోట్ల భారతీయులు, తెలుగువారి ఆనవాళ్లు తప్పకుండా ఉంటున్నాయి.’ అని సీఎం చంద్రబాబు అన్నారు.

నా కోసం మీరు చేసిన పోరాటం మర్చిపోలేను

‘ఇన్ని దేశాల్లో తెలుగువారు ఉంటారని నా జీవితంలో ఊహించలేదు. అవకాశాలు అందిపుచ్చుకుని విదేశాలకు వచ్చారు. నన్ను జైలుకు పంపిన సమమంలో మీరు పోరాడిన తీరు నేను చూశాను… ఇన్ని దేశాల్లో తెలుగువారు ఉన్నారా అనిపించింది. 53 రోజుల పాటు నా కోసం మీరు ఉద్యమం చేశారు. రాజకీయాల్లో ఉండటానికి అర్హత లేని వ్యక్తి అధికారంలో ఉంటే ఏమైందో గత ఐదేళ్లు చూశాం. రాష్ట్రాన్ని గట్టెక్కించడానికి టీడీపీ, జనసేన, బీజేపీ కలిసి పోటీ చేశాయి. ఎన్నికల సమయంలో ప్రపంచంలో ఎక్కడున్నా వచ్చి ఓట్లు వేసి మమ్మల్ని గెలిపించారు. ఇది నా జీవితంలో మర్చిపోలేను. పౌరులను తయారు చేయడంలో గతంలో చాలా మంది నాయకులు బాధ్యత తీసుకున్నారు. సింగపూర్ ఒక మత్స్య గ్రామం… అలాంటి దేశాన్ని పబ్లిక్ పాలసీలతో అడ్వాన్స్ దేశంగా పాలకులు మార్చారు. ఏపీ అంటే వ్యవసాయం అని మాత్రమే అనుకున్నారు. 1991లో ఆర్థిక సంస్కరణలు వచ్చాయి. 1993లో ఇంటర్నెట్ రెవల్యూషన్ వచ్చింది. 1995లో నేను ముఖ్యమంత్రి అయ్యాను. ఆ సమయంలో ఎవరూ చేయని సాహసం చేశాను. రెండవ తరంలో సంస్కరణలు ప్రారంభించి ఐటీకి ప్రాధాన్యం ఇచ్చా. ఎవరికీ తెలియని సమయంలో ఐటీ గురించి మాట్లాడాను. పిల్లల్ని చదవిస్తే కోట్లు సంపాదిస్తారని చెప్పాను. హైదరాబాద్‌ను అభివృద్ధి చేయడం వల్ల తెలంగాణ ప్రజల తలసరి ఆదాయం దేశంలో అందరికంటే ఎక్కువ ఉంది. దీనికి కారణం నాడు నేను వేసిన పునాది.

‘మనవాళ్లు ఉద్యోగాలు చేయడం కాదు… ఉద్యోగాలు ఇచ్చే స్థాయికి ఎదగాలని ఎప్పుడూ చెప్పేవాణ్ని. రెండవ తరంలో ఎంట్రప్రెన్యూర్‌కు ఆనాడు పునాది వేశానని గర్వంగా చెప్తున్నా. ఆడపిల్లలను చదివించాలని, వివక్ష చూపించొద్దని చెప్పా. కాలేజీ సీట్లలో, ఉద్యోగాల్లో 33 శాతం ఆడబిడ్డలకు రిజర్వేషన్లు పెట్టాను. ఏ ఐటీ కంపెనీకి వెళ్లినా ఇప్పుడు అమ్మాయిలు ఎక్కువగా కనబడుతున్నారు. ఇప్పుడు అన్ని దేశాల్లో జనాభా సమస్య వచ్చింది. జపాన్ లాంటి దేశం ఇండియా నుంచి మ్యాన్ పవర్ కావాలని మొదటిసారి అడుగుతోంది. సరైన సమయంలో నిర్ణయం తీసుకోకపోతే సంపద సృష్టించినా, టెక్నాలజీ ఉన్నా ఎవరు అనుభవిస్తారు.? 2047 నాటికి భారత్ ఆర్ధికంగా ప్రపంచంలో మొదటి, రెండవ స్థానాల్లో ఉంటాం. 2 కోట్ల మంది తెలుగువాళ్లు ప్రపంచ దేశాలకు వెళ్తే దున్నేస్తారు. మీరు ఇక్కడే ఉండండి… మరింత విస్తరించండి. అభివృద్ధి చేయాలంటే దగ్గరే ఉండాల్సిన పనిలేదు… ఫోన్ ద్వారా కూడా అవుతుంది. తెలుగువారు ప్రపంచమంతా ఉండాలి…. కర్మభూమిని పట్టించుకోవాలి… జన్మభూమికి అవకాశాలు కల్పించాలి. ఈ రెండింటినీ సమాంతరంగా తీసుకెళ్లాలి.’ అని ముఖ్యమంత్రి పిలుపునిచ్చారు.

వర్క్‌ఫ్రం హోమ్‌ హబ్‌గా ఏపీ

‘ఎవరు ఏ రంగంలో రాణించాలన్నా ఆర్థికంగా ఇబ్బందులు ఉండకూడదు. రాజకీయాల్లో ఉండి డబ్బులు సంపాదిస్తే ఎప్పటికీ గౌరవం రాదు. కుటుంబం రాజకీయాలపై ఆధారపడకూడదని ఒకటి రెండుసార్లు విఫలం అయినా హెరిటేజ్ స్థాపించి గౌరవంగా ఉన్నాం. నేను రాజకీయం చేస్తే నా సతీమణి వ్యాపారం చూస్తుంది. లోకేష్ కూడా రాజకీయాలు చేస్తుంటే బ్రాహ్మణి వ్యాపారాలు చూస్తున్నారు. సంపద సృష్టించడం కష్టం కాదు. 2047 నాటికి నెంబర్ గా తెలుగుజాతి ఉండాలనేదే నా సంకల్పం. వ్యవసాయం, కూలీ కుటుంబాల నుంచి వచ్చాం. ప్రపంచలో ఎక్కడికెళ్లినా రాణిస్తున్నాం. ఉక్రెయిన్‌లో యుద్ధం ప్రకటిస్తే ఏం చేయాలో ఆలోచించి మన వాళ్లను కాపాడుకోగలిగాం. మనం వచ్చిన మార్గాన్ని ఎప్పుడూ మర్చిపోకూడదు. ఇంజనీరింగ్, మెడికల్ కాలేజీల కోసం నాడు ఫైళ్లు పట్టుకుని తిరిగాను… కారణం మన వాళ్ళ భవిష్యత్తు కోసం.

సుస్థిర ప్రభుత్వంతో అభివృద్ధి

‘నాడు బిల్ గేట్స్‌ను నేను కలవాలంటే కుదరదని చెప్పారు. ఐదు నిమిషాలు సమయం కావాలని వెళ్లాను. కానీ నేను చెప్పింది వింటూ నలభై నిమిషాల సమయం ఇచ్చారు. నేను ఏమి చేయాలని బిల్‌గేట్స్ అడిగారు… మైక్రోసాఫ్ట్ హైదరాబాద్‌లో పెట్టాలని కోరాను. మైక్రోసాఫ్ట్ హైదరాబాద్‌కు రావడంతో మన తెలుగు బిడ్డ సత్యనాదెళ్ల సీఈఓ అయ్యారు. ప్రతి ఎన్నికల్లో గెలిస్తే రాష్ట్రాన్ని ఎక్కడికో తీసుకెళ్లొచ్చు. కేంద్రంలో మోదీ 3వ సారి పీఎం అయ్యారు. గుజరాత్‌లో బీజేపీ 5వ సారి గెలిచింది. 2004లో కూడా మనం గెలిచి ఉంటే తెలుగు జాతి ఊహకు కూడా అందనంత స్థాయిలో ఉండేది. కానీ అదృష్టం ఏంటంటే నా తర్వాత వచ్చిన పాలకులు హైటెక్ సిటీ కూల్చలేదు. కానీ ఏపీలో మొన్న వచ్చిన పాలకులతో అమరావతి, పోలవరం అన్నీ పోయాయి. మీ శక్తి పెరిగితే మన తెలుగు సంస్కృతి నిలబడుతుంది. మీరు, మీ పిల్లలు తెలుగులోనూ మాట్లాడాలి. అవకాశాలను వెతికిపట్టి ఏపీని వర్క్ ఫ్రం హోమ్ హబ్ గా చేయాలన్నది నా కోరిక. మహిళలు ఇంటి పనులు చూసుకుంటూనే ఐదారు గంటలు పని చేస్తే డబ్బులు సంపాదించవచ్చు. ఏఐని అందరూ అడాప్ట్ చేసుకోవాలి. విద్యుత్ రంగంలో ఊహించని పరిణామాలు రాబోతున్నాయి. గ్రీన్ హైడ్రోజన్ హబ్‌గా ఏపీ తయారవుతుంది. మీరు ఏపీ అభివృద్ధిలో భాగం కావాలి. నేను ఒక్క ఏపీ అభివృద్ధి గురించి మాత్రమే మాట్లాడటం లేదు… తెలుగుజాతి అభ్యున్నతి గురించి మాట్లాడుతున్నా. దేశానికి ఏదో చేయాలన్న సంకల్పంతో మోదీ పని చేస్తున్నారు. వికసిత్ భారత్‌ 2047తో కేంద్రం ముందుకెళ్తే… స్వర్ణాంధ్ర విజన్ 2047తో మనం ముందుకెళ్తున్నాం. మీకున్న నాలెడ్జ్‌తో నాకు సలహాలు ఇస్తే స్వీకరిస్తా. మీరు చూపించే ప్రేమ నా జీవితంలో మర్చిపోలేను. మీ ఆదరణకు నేను ఎంత చేసిన తక్కువే.’ అని సీఎం చంద్రబాబు నాయుడు అన్నారు.

Zurich, January 20: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu began his visit to Davos for the World Economic Forum (WEF) summit on an enthusiastic note. On the first day, he engaged in a series of high-level meetings with investors and business leaders, showcasing the vast potential of Andhra Pradesh as an investment destination.

Strengthening India-Switzerland Ties
During his first meeting at the Hilton Hotel, Zurich, Chandrababu Naidu met with Mr. Mridul Kumar, Indian Ambassador to Switzerland. They discussed avenues to attract Swiss investments into Andhra Pradesh. Highlighting that over 350 Swiss companies, including Nestlé, ABB, and Novartis, are already operating in India, the ambassador noted Switzerland’s growing interest in Indian markets.
Chief Minister emphasised Andhra Pradesh’s unique strengths in sectors like pharmaceuticals, medical devices, technical textiles, and rail components manufacturing. He proposed collaborations between Swiss universities and Andhra Pradesh’s upcoming Skill and AI universities, fostering innovation and workforce development.
Exclusive Interactions with Swiss Business Leaders
Mr. Kumar facilitated a meeting between CM Naidu and top executives from four leading Swiss companies including Raoul Keller, Secretary General, Swissmem, Markus Tacke, CEO, Oerlikon, Erich Schmid, CEO, Angst + Pfister and Jörn van der Krone, Head of Economics and External Affairs, Swiss Textiles.
The discussions centered on investment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh, focusing on leveraging the state’s skilled workforce, business-friendly policies, and infrastructural advantages. Mr Naidu extended a formal invitation to these companies to establish their presence in Andhra Pradesh, underscoring the incentives offered by both the central and state governments.
