Amaravati, February, 18; Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath revealed that the central government has decided to pay the dues to the states till June. According to this, Minister Buggana clarified that another Rs.689 crore should come to Andhra Pradesh under GST compensation. State Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath expressed happiness over the reduction of penalties imposed on small business enterprises and consideration of the state’s suggestions in setting up an appellate tribunal. He said that the Council has agreed to revise the penalties levied for late filing of returns by companies with a business volume of Rs 20 crore as suggested by the state. Also, the Council approved the recommendations of the Committee of Ministers for the amendments to be taken in the Appellate Tribunals. He said that he is also a member of this committee of ministers. The minister stated that the council has agreed to the instructions to set up the tribunal in addition to providing a seat to the chief secretary of the state. He attended the 49th GST Council meeting at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi on Saturday under the chairmanship of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Before that, the 48th GST Council meeting held in December was held through video conference, so it was learned that the Center focused on the issues of the day. Union Minister Sitharaman stated that there is still Rs. 16,982 crore due to all the states and that the dues up to May 31 of last year have already been paid. It is reported that the council has decided to reduce GST on stationery like pencil and rubber from 18 to 12 percent. It is learned that the Center is clearing the entire compensation cess arrears of the states temporarily admissible under the GST Compensation Act, 2017. GST Council Conference State Finance Secretary N. Gulzar (Income Tax), Chief Commissioner of State Revenue Department M. Girija Shankar and others were present.
