AP cabinet discuss on welfare and development during 2025, decides to focus more people friendly policies in coming years
AMARAVATI:
The Andhra Pradesh state witnessed rapid growth rate of 11.28 per cent and development in sectors during 2025 under coalition government which introduced speed of delivering governance and balancing both welfare and development for integrated development of the state. The state cabinet also discussed on the performance of the government during this year and future programmes to be implemented in coming years. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the ministers to focus more on successful implementation of welfare schemes at ground level.
The coalition government giving top priority for welfare schemes introduced Super six sechemes and made the super six a super hit. Coming to other welfare schemes, the government disbursed financial assistance of Rs 10,090 crore to benefit 67.27 lakh students under Talliki Vandanam programme. Aiming women empowerment, the state government introduced Stree Sakthi scheme free travel facility for women in RTC buses on August 15, which won the appreciation from lakhs of women and turned as a super success. So far 3.25 crore women travelled free of cost and the government spent Rs 1,144 crore on free travel. The government provided free travel facility for disabled too. In Addition the state government distributed three free LPG cylinders per year benefiting two crore women by spending Rs 2,684 crore.
Referring to farmers welfare, the state government credited Rs 6310 crore in to accounts of 46 lakh farmers
Under NTR Bharosa pension scheme Rs 50,000 crore spent on pensions so far by distributing Rs 33,000 crore annually, and Rs 2,750 crore per month. Under Fishermen Bharosa the government distributing Rs20,000 per year to 1.25 lakh beneficiaries with Rs250 crore allocation. The state government supply 500 units per month for power looms and 200 units for handlooms to benefit weavers. As part of extending support to auto drivers, the state government credited Rs 436 crore benefiting 2.90 lakh auto drivers by Rs 15000 each. To provide food at subsidized price the state government set up 204 Anna Canteens and served 4 crore meals so far.
The other initiatives of coalition government include 10 per cent reservation of liquor shops for toddy tappers,
SC categorisation without disputes; establishment of a separate corporation for goldsmiths, Rs 3,670 crore spent on minority welfare this year, Rs 5,000 per month honorarium to 8,427 pastors with Rs 51 crore allocation,
Honorarium to Imams Rs10,000/month and Muezzins Rs5,000 per month with allocation of 90 crore annually,
Enhanced salaries for priests to Rs15,000 per month; Nayee Brahmins to Rs25,000 per month
Rs10,000 honorarium for junior lawyers.
Giving top priority for employment generation to youth, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu made first signature on Mega DSC and recruited 15,941 teachers and at the same time recruited 5,757 constables and introduced gratuity to Anganwaqdis and Ashas. As part of Swarna Andhra and Swatcha Andhra drie removal of nearly 84 lakh tonnes of garbage and spent Rs 1,000 crore for road repairs and Rs 3,000 crore for new road construction.
AP topped in attracting investments with the introduction of 23 new industry friendly policies and introducing of Escrow accounts and industrial investements. During recently held CII Summit at Visakhapatnam: 610 MoUs signed attracting ilnvestments of Rs 13.25 lakh crore and 16.13 lakh jobs. The state government conducted 13 State Investment Promotion Board meetings and approved investements to a tune of Rs 8.55 lakh crore. The government decided to set up MSME parks in all the 175 constituencies.
Visakhapatnam is going to emerge as global IT Hub as Google–Reliance Data Centers coming up, with TCS operations and foundation stone for Cognizant. Besides Quantum Valley coming up in Amaravati.
The state government introduced major reforms in temple services including Tirumala daily Annadanam and in 15 major temples. The Yogandhra event in Visakhapatnam in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated turned as a big success.
As part of Revival of Panchayati Raj system construction of 4,000 km village roads under Palle Panduga is taken up and
13,326 Gram Sabhas held statewide on a single day and nearly 3,000 development works initiated. Road connectivity to tribal habitations under Adivithalli Bata and 4G network to remote villages is launched,Promotions in Panchayati Raj system, release of 15th Finance Commission funds and revival of 95 CSS schemes.
Under Amarajeevi Jaladhara tap water connections to be provided to every household at a cost of Rs 3,050 crore aimed at benefit 1.21 crore people.
Coming to irrigation sector the Handri Neeva canal expansion completed in 100 days; irrigation water provided to Rayalaseema by filling tanks and projects,Groundwater levels increased by 6.08 meters through efficient water management. Meanwhile there was rapid progress in Polavaram works, R&R package payments and progress of Veligonda project.
To protect the interestrs of farmers, the state government established record paddy procurement with payments credited within 24 hours and 34.23 lakh metric tonnes procured during this Kharif and paid Rs 8,120 crore paid to 5.48 lakh farmers. Besides market intervention support exceeding Rs1,100 crore was provided for crops like tobacco, mango, cocoa and onion.
Revenue conferences were held across the state for issuance of Pattadar Passbooks with State Emblem and repealed the NALA Act. The state government decided to distribute free house sites of 3 cents in villages and 2 cents in urban areas for the homeless poor and application process completed.
Coming to health sector the state government introducing Digital healthcare and Universal Health Policy with Gates Foundation and Tata Sanjeevani. Besides major reforms introduced in the education system including Mega Parents–Teachers Meeting, Dokkal Seethamma Midday Meal Scheme, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Kits distribution to students and ttransparency in teachers transfers. Health check-ups conducted for 75 lakh students from Class 1 to Intermediate; Mustabu programme introduced promoting hygiene and healthy habits of students.
As part of Power sector reforms the state government initiated steps to to reduce power purchase costs and unit price targeted to fall from Rs 5.19 to Rs 4.80 and the power sector attracted investments to a tune of Rs 3 lakh crore in clean energy plants. The state government providing free solar rooftop units for 20 lakh SC/ST families and additional Rs 20,000 assistance for BCs.
AP registered reduction in crime rate as the government acted tough to crackdown on ganja and drugs with formation of Eagle Task Force.
Under Speed of Delivering Governance WhatsApp Governance, data-driven decisions, disaster management and P4 initiative and three-region development strategy centered on Visakhapatnam, Amaravati, and Tirupati, the government won the appreciation of people.The State’s share secured under Purvodaya Scheme; works on Visakhapatnam Railway Zone headquarters and with strong coordination with the Centre; revival of nearly 90 central schemes with the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was possible. The central government extended support of Rs 11,440 crore to the Steel Plant and Rs One lakh crore towards National Highway and Railway projects. The state government decided to increase the total number of district to 28 from 26 with public consent under districts reorganization.
