CM Shri YS Jagan started the tourist police stations established in tourist and spiritual areas virtually from the camp office.
On this occasion, what did CM Shri YS. Jagan say..:
Police stations towards reforms…
Today we are starting another good program under the auspices of the police department. Unlike the past, many good reforms are being implemented in the police department, which has never happened before. As never seen before, women police have become available at the village level through village secretariats.
Zero FIR has been made available for the first time in the state as never before.
We have brought about a change in the way we behave when we go to the police station, which is still significantly different from the past. We are making the impression that the police are your friends.. We are also setting up a receptionist at the police stations… to stand with the complainants.
Disha App – 1 Crore 20 Lakh Downloads…
The Disha app has registered and downloaded more than 1 crore 20 lakhs which has never happened before. When in danger, just shake the phone five times and press the SOS button… Within five or ten minutes, the police brother will respond like an elder brother and a younger brother to help. They call and ask for information… If they do not respond on the phone, they go there themselves and stand by them.
Help to six thousand people
Within 10 minutes of pressing the SOS button, the police called… are you okay, mom? This has benefited about 6 thousand people so far. All these changes are seen in the police department which never happened before.
As part of such changes, today we are setting up tourist police stations in 20 tourist and spiritual areas. Things are happening today that have never happened before.
For the comfort and safety of tourists..
For the security of those visiting tourist areas and spiritual places, we have identified around 20 locations and set up kiosks there. All those kiosks are connected to the local police station and 20 are functioning as additional police stations.
Each kiosk is designed to have around 6 staff working in two shifts. They are supervised by an officer of the rank of SI or ASI. A dedicated telephone number display for anyone in distress
will be done. In the same way, if there is any danger in that place… we are also making pamphlets available in that area so that if you download the Disha app, a police brother will stand with you.
All of them are given a special telephone number, radio set, first aid box, map of the area, emergency telephone numbers and vehicles and we are taking necessary measures to ensure that the tourists and pilgrims in the area are safe. Henceforth, these tourist police stations will start working towards providing the necessary assurance for a fearless stay in tourist areas and spiritual areas.
All these steps have been taken with the aim of ensuring women’s safety and not causing any inconvenience to the tourists in the area.
It will also stand as another golden chapter in the police department. Among the many reforms being done in the police department, this will also stand as a great reform.
Along with the female staff…
Another good thing that came to my attention is that…half of the staff working in tourist police stations are women. Due to this, when any women go to those kiosks, they will be accompanied by female staff. These are all good developments. I wish all the best for all the tourists. The Chief Minister concluded his speech by saying, “On my behalf and on behalf of the government, I sincerely wish all the best to all of you who are working in this police station with a sense of dedication and service… for taking steps forward in a good program”.
Home Minister Taneti Vanitha, DGP KV Rajendranath Reddy, Special CS of Tourism and Culture Department Rajat Bhargava and many senior police officials participated in this programme.
